wipeDevice = factory reset ?

If I use the standard wipeDevice API with WIPE_INTERNAL_EXTERNAL_MEMORY flag, is the result the same as a user-initiated factory reset?  If not, what are the deltas?  I am specifically referring to Note 4 (Android 5.1,1), Tab S (5.0.2), and Note 8 (7.1.1) if it matters.

Thanks.

Hi Rick,

The clarify what the flags mean, wiping internal memory would be equivalent to a user-initiated factory reset and wiping external memory wipes any external memory on the device, usually an SD card. WIPE_INTERNAL_EXTERNAL_MEMORY would initiate both types of data wiping.

Thanks,

Sam

Thanks Samual G.  If called with the WIPE_INTERNAL_MEMORY flag, is it then equivalent to the Android wipeData method (in DevicePolicyManager class I believe), or does it add additional functionality?

Hi Rick,

With this flag, it is essentially equivalent to the Android API.

Thanks,

Sam
